![]() The narrator, Maggie Gyllenhaal, does an incredible job and really transports the listener into Sylvia Plath's world. The Bell Jar was originally published in 1963 and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction shortly after its release. Maggie Gyllenhaal does a great job narrating this story of Esther Greenwood, who starts out as a confident young woman and finds herself developing into the complete opposite yet remains troubled by her life. This audiobook is a must-listen for anyone interested in Sylvia Plath's work. It's an easy read but there is a lot of depth and symbolism in this book that isn't immediately apparent. When I listened to it for the first time, it calmed me down because someone else had gone through what I was going through. ![]() Some decades ago, when I was having issues with a breakup, I found myself really drawn to Sylvia Plath's autobiographical novel The Bell Jar. ![]()
